Frame

Epic Hardtail is available in 12m carbon for S-Works and 11m carbon for other levels. The frame is has three water bottle mount bolts on the downtube, making the frame compatible with the SWAT box (53217-1000). There are also two water bottle mount bolts on the seat tube.

Frame geometry is longer, lower, and slacker than previous generations–as a result, we recommend a stem length of 60-75mm.

Cable Routing

Cable routing is all internal with full-length housing.  Routing at the headtube is through three molded holes on the non-drive side: two 4mm holes for rear derailleur and dropper seatpost and one 5mm hole for the rear brake.  If riders do not plan on using a dropper seat post or use a wireless shifting system, a rubber plug has been designed to fill a 4mm hole, S196500008.

Fork/Headset

Epic Hardtail is designed as an XC race bike with S-XL sizes using 100mm forks. XS uses an 80mm fork to reduce the stand over height.

Fork offset is changed to 42mm like the full suspension models for quick handling.

Rockshox SID forks spec'd on the Expert, Pro and SW models feature the Position-Sensitive Brain allowing a small amount of free movement before the Brain platform is engaged.

The headset has a 1 1/8" upper and 1 1/2" lower bearing.

Bottom Bracket

BSA threaded 73 mm.

Seatpost

30.9 diameter seatpost with 34.9 seat clamp. The seatpost clamps are shared on all models, with Ti hardware used on the SW models.  S184700003
