SRAM introduced the direct-mount SRAM Transmission in April 2023. This new drivetrain system directly mounts to the frame for bikes with the SRAM UDH or Universal Derailleur Hanger. We know a lot of riders are eager to try this new technology, so we created this page so you can learn if your existing bike—or the +1 you're eyeing—is UDH compatible.

Why are some bikes not UDH compatible?

SRAM announced UDH in 2019, which happened to be mid-generation for some bikes. UDH compatibility is part of the frame design and can't be easily adapted without a redesign of the frame itself. Specialized has integrated UDH into mountain bike frames that were designed after 2019. Unfortunately, previous generation bike designs that existed prior to UDH are not backwards compatible.

Turbo bikes have an additional layer of complexity because the motor incorporates a specific crank and spider interface. If you wish to convert your Turbo bike to SRAM Transmission, you will need to make sure that a T-type chainring is compatible. If you need help, our Rider Care team is there for you.

Check the list below. You can also look at the derailleur hanger on your bike for the UDH label on the outer fixing bolt.

*Turbo bikes also require a specific chainring that's T-type compatible and compatible with the spider. Please contact Rider Care for assistance.

See the SRAM Chainlength calculator  https://axs.sram.com/guides/chain/calculator for recommended chain length for T-Type transmission setup.
