TRAILER COMPATIBILITY

YES

TRAILER HITCH MOUNTING HARDWARE

Default MY22 Turbo Vado/Como/Tero 148x12 rear thru axle (derailleur models)

Example of "Robert" 148x12 rear thru axle for trailer hitches (Syntace standard with conical washers)

Example of Thule adaptor 20100798 on an IGH model with enviolo hub, combined with a hitch for a Thule trailer

YES

Models w/ standard drivetrains

  • Replace the standard thru-axle with a trailer-compatible 148x12mm thru-axle (Syntace standard, pitch 1.0), e.g. from The Robert Axle Project
  • Dimensions of default 148x12 thru axle
    • Full Length: 172 mm (outer head - end of axle)
    • M12 thread with 1.0 pitch

Models with internally geared hubs

  • Thule adaptor 20100798 (this SRAM version works for enviolo as well)
  • This adaptor replaces the 15 mm wheel nut on the non-drive-side and allows attaching a trailer hitch to the integrated thread; the hitch is secured with a separate bolt, included with the adaptor
  • Required tools:
    • 19 mm open spanner to tighten the adaptor on axle
    • 13 mm open spanner to attach the trailer hitch to the adaptor
    • Tip: carry an adjustable wrench to repair a flat out on the road (avoids carrying single 13, 15 and 19 mm spanners)

LOCK COMPATIBILITY

Vado-compatible Abus Shield 5750 Plus frame lock

Abus Bordo Lite Mini 6055 folding lock (without holder)

YES

FRAME LOCKS (mounted to seat stays)

Requirements:

  • Lock must be wide enough to clear fender/tire; fender width: 65 mm
  • Lock mount tabs need to be compatible with frame tab spacing
  • Seat stay tab distance for frame locks (center-center)
  • Tip for many Abus locks: combine them with the matching adaptor chain that connects to the frame lock; allows securing the bike to a pole, fence etc.

FOLDING LOCKS AND OTHER ACCESSORIES AT TOP TUBE

The top tube rivet nuts in double diamond frames are positioned closer to the seat tube as known from Vado Gen1, for these reasons:

  • All frame sizes accept a small folding lock + 26 oz bottle in downtube holder
  • Mounting accessories such as pumps or alternative holders without interfering with a large water bottle at down tube

Customization tip:

Compatible folding lock at top tube rivet nuts

Down-tube mounting:

  • Compatible with all Vado, Tero and Como frames
  • Como Low Entry frames and Vado Step frames either accept a folding lock or a water bottle cage

DROPPER POST COMPATIBILITY

YES

Suitable 30.9 mm dropper posts with internal routing can be retrofitted

Notes on routing a dropper post cable:

  • Drive-side frame entry ports in downtube accept additional housing
  • In motor area, cable routes past the motor tabs on the drive side
  • Cranks, spider/chainring and motor covers need to be removed
  • Motor can remain installed (removing it makes routing certainly easier)
