Washing

Never use a high-pressure cleaner when cleaning your bike or wash with a hose from a very close distance.  Please ensure you use only a low-pressure hose to clean sensitive parts like bearings, headset, and wheel hubs, etc. Use a soft brush and a bucket of high-quality bike cleaner to wash off all stubborn dirt.  Rinse off your bike with a low-pressure hose to clean off all excess soap.  Wipe down your bike with a soft cloth to dry off all excess water.  Apply a high-quality bike lube to your chain.

Basic Maintenance

  • Regularly check your tire pressure and tire wear
  • Clean and lube your chain regularly with a high-quality bike lube
  • Be aware of faster wear and tear for some parts like drivetrain, tires and brake pads
  • If you need replacement parts, please see the Haul ST Replacement Parts section

How to Change a Flat Tire

Note: Globe bicycles are significantly heavier than a regular bicycle. You may want the help of a second person to assist in removing/reinstalling the wheels.

Remove the front wheel

  1. Use a 15 mm socket wrench to loosen the wheels nuts at the axle (A in image below).
  2. Remove the wheels nuts and safety washers.
  3. Lift the front end of the bicycle and remove the wheel from the dropouts.

Reinstall the front wheel

  1. Lift the front end of the bicycle and install the front wheel into the fork – make sure that the brake rotor is centered between the brake pads (C in image below).

  2. Slide the safety washers (B) onto the axle and hook into the fork dropout, then thread the wheel nuts (A) onto the axle.

  3. Tighten the wheel nuts to approximately 35 Nm / 310 in-lbf.

Remove the rear wheel

  1. Deflate the rear tire by unscrewing the valve cap and pressing on the valve stem to release air.
  2. Use the kickstand to elevate the rear wheel.
  3. Shift into the highest gear (small cog) using the handlebar shifter.
  4. Unclip the cable from the cable guide (A in inset of image below), then disconnect the motor cable on the chainstay (B).
  5. Use a 4 mm hex key to loosen and remove the locking washer bolt (C).
  6. Use the 17 mm socket wrench (D) to loosen the wheel nuts (E) on each side of the wheel. You do not need to remove the wheel nuts.
  7. Rotate the lower pulley of the derailleur down/toward the front of the bicycle to release the tension on the chain, then remove the wheel from the dropouts.
  8. Lift the rear end of the bicycle and remove the wheel from the bicycle.

Reinstall the rear wheel

Do not pump up the tire until after the wheel has been installed.

  1. Lift the rear end of the bicycle and position the wheel with the no-turn washer (A) aligned with the dropouts.
  2. Rotate the lower pulley of the derailleur down/toward the front of the bicycle to release the tension on the chain and insert the wheel into the dropouts – make sure that the brake rotor is centered between the brake pads.

  3. Position the locking washer bolt (C) and tighten the bolt to 6 Nm / 53 in-lbf.
  4. Tighten the wheel nuts to approximately 45 Nm / 398 in-lbf.
  5. Reconnect the motor cable connectors (F) and reinsert the cable into the cable guide (G).
