Frame & Fork
The Aethos S-Works frame features 12R carbon and is compatible with electronic shifting and disc brakes only.
Frame weights in Satin Carbon/Jetfuel (the lightest option) range from 550g to 643g depending on frame size.
The Aethos frame has road disc standard spacing: 100x12, 142x12
New lightweight axles have been developed, S200200010 & S200200011.
Fork geometry varies by frame size. The Aethos S-Works fork is 12R carbon.

The Aethos uses a conventional headset with one part for all frame sizes (S202500012). The headset includes a new lightweight top cap (S202500013) and compression plug (S202500011).
The torque spec for the new compression plug is lower than the standard version–please use a torque wrench when installing it. A maximum of 35mm of spacers may be placed beneath the stem. The lightweight scalloped spacers may be used below the stem only. A maximum of 5mm of solid spacers may be installed above the stem.
A new Alpinist seatpost has been developed for the Aethos. The seatpost diameter is 27.2mm and the seatpost clamp is 30.0mm (S174700006).

The minimum seatpost insertion from the top of the seatpost collar is 75mm. The maximum insertion is 215mm. If the proper saddle height can't be achieved with the stock seatpost within the acceptable range, a shorter or longer seatpost should be used.
The Alpinist seatpost uses a micro-adjust two-bolt system to clamp the saddle rails. Replacement clamps and hardware are available (S204900004).
Drivetrain & Cable Routing
- Aethos S-Works is compatible with electronic shifting only.
- Maximum chainring size: 1x 52t or 2x 55t.
- A new lightweight rear derailleur hanger has been developed (S206000001). The front derailleur hanger requires installation of a backing plate in the frame. See below under Cable Routing.
- The Aethos frame uses a threaded BSA 68mm bottom bracket, which is compatible with many aftermarket bottom brackets.
The Aethos S-Works frame is compatible with electronic shifting and disc brakes only. The electronic shifting wire should follow the rear brake hose from the cockpit into the non-drive side of the headtube using grommet (S179900013). Use foam churros to control cable rattle in the downtube (S149900018). There is a plug for the rear derailleur cable exit (S209900054). The front derailleur wire is routed behind the derailleur hanger, which requires a backing plate mounted inside the frame (S201900005--see images below). eTap models can use a block off plug on the chainstay (S179900015). For bikes using a 1X drivetrain, a block off plate for the front derailleur hanger is shared with the Tarmac SL7 (S201900002).

The Aethos frame is compatible with disc brakes only. There is a custom flat mount adaptor for the Aethos fork that must be used (S200700001). 160mm front rotors are standard.
Tires, Racks & Fenders
Aethos complete bikes are equipped with 700x26mm tires; however, the frame was designed with much larger clearance in mind. You can fit tires up to 32c on 21mm rims with 4mm of clearance all around. Clip-on fenders are compatible but will reduce clearance and may not fit with wider tires. The frame is not compatible with front or rear racks.
