Setup

Adjusting saddle height

To adjust the saddle height, begin by moving the rubber grommet up the seatpost to expose the seatpost wedge bolt. The seatpost wedge bolt may be adjusted with either a 4mm hex or an 8mm socket. Loosen the wedge bolt and adjust the saddle height as needed. Ensure that the seatpost is inserted far enough to block the minimum insertion hole (A in image below) on the down tube. Torque the seatpost wedge bolt to 6.2Nm (55 in-lbf) and slide the rubber seatpost grommet back into the frame.

Adjusting handlebar height

Stack can be adjusted within a range of 30mm. Two headset cap heights are available: a short 0mm cap, S192500011 and a tall 15mm cap, S192500010. In addition to these caps, 15mm of spacers may may be placed below the Future Shock cartridge. Note that only Future Shock spacers should be used as they are a smaller diameter than standard steerer spacers. Please see the Roubaix User Manual or a Specialized dealer to follow the correct procedures for adjusting the stack height.

Tubeless Conversion

Many riders choose to convert to tubeless tires to prevent pinch flats. Tubeless tires allow riders to use lower inflation pressure without the risk of damaging a tube from impacts. See the table below for the tubeless compatibility of your bike model. Please ensure that both your rims and tires are tubeless-compatible before proceeding. Components & Compatibility

Future Shock

All models of the Roubaix feature a Future Shock. With 20mm of travel, the Future Shock was designed to help riders overcome obstacles on their ride while providing compliance and giving the rider confidence on the bike. We designed the Future Shock to soak up all those small imperfections on the road.

Future Shock 2.0

Expert, Pro & S-Works models come with the damped Future Shock 2.0, S194200039.

While the Future Shock 2.0 has 9 clicks of adjustment on the knob, the first 2 clicks from the firm setting (moving counterclockwise) have a very small adjustment. The remaining 3-9 clicks are fully open. The firm setting is not a lock-out, but is tuned to provide a more stable platform for out-of-the saddle climbing and sprinting while still absorbing large bumps.

The adjuster knob for the Future Shock 2.0 is held in place by a 1.5mm set screw, it is very important to use a straight hex key on this as a rounded key may strip the screw. Replacement adjuster knobs are available, with set screw included S199900020.

Future Shock 1.5

Comp and Sport models come with the non-damped Future Shock 1.5, S194200040. The Future Shock 1.5 features a new progressive spring, adding performance and control. A new bottom-out bumper and top-out spring control the movement at the extremes.

Can I upgrade my Future Shock 1.5 to the 2.0?

CAUTION: Top tube accessory bags that strap around the steerer tube below the stem are not compatible with a Future Shock damper, which is equipped on all models. Use of a strap around the boot of the Future Shock damper may damage the boot (S209900002), which will impair the waterproofness of the Future Shock.

Future Shock Service

Future Shocks 1.5 & 2.0 are designed to maintain consistent performance for the length of ownership. Should a rider experience an issue with a Future Shock, complete cartridges are available as service parts, S194200039 & S194200040.

Should the rubber boot become fatigued from use, replacements are available, S209900002.

Future Shock 2.0/1.5 Manual

Compatible Parts

The Roubaix has clearance for tires up to 700x33c. We recommend that you maintain 6mm of clearance between the fork, frame and tires to allow debris to pass through.
The Roubaix is designed to use a conventional road 2x drivetrain for either electronic and mechanical shifting. The Roubaix is compatible with 1x drivetrains with a maximum front chainring size of 52T.

Stem

The Roubaix has a new S-Works Future Stem. This new stem was designed around Future Shock. This stem is not only for the Roubaix; it may also be used as an upgrade for Future Shock-equipped Diverge and Sirrus models. Note that the Future Stem is only for Future Shock-equipped models as the inner diameter is smaller than a conventional steerer. If a rider would like to use a standard stem, a shim is available, S199900023.

The new S-Works Future Stem also features an accessory mount compatible face plate, S199900064 & S219900020. This Future Stem face plate is compatible with current SL stems as well; note that the face plate has a satin finish while most SL stems are gloss.

Seat post

The Roubaix has a new S-Works Pave seat post. This is a D-Shape seat post with new technology allowing us to provide the comfort of the CG-R seat post while keeping the shape of the D-Shape seat post. Bikes will be delivered with the 20mm setback version; a 0mm setback version is available as an AM part.

The new S-Works Pave Seat Post uses Tarmac SL6 Di2 battery mount, S186800006.

A new seat post wedge is used for the Roubaix, S199900021. The seatpost wedge is positioned inside the frame and is accessed by removing a rubber boot, S199900095. The adjustment fastener features a 4mm inside hex and a 8mm outside hex, which reduces the potential for failure due to a stripped head. S-Works models use a titanium bolt while all others use a steel bolt; only the Ti version is supported for service.

Maximum torque for the seat post wedge is: 55 in/lbs (6.2 Nm)
