System

System Status tells you at a glance if your Turbo system is healthy or if a user action is required (such as an available update or detected error). The system will also alert you on the main Bikes screen – next to the Bike Status button you will notice a red dot if there is an update available or an error event detected.

Any live system events are shown here and a solution is supported through simple steps you can carry out yourself. If there is a deeper error, you will be referred to your local authorized Specialized Retailer. Advanced Diagnostics is available for specific bikes (see below) so you can run remote diagnostics with your Retailer.

  • Healthy: No action needed
  • Update Available: When you are connected to your bike and we detect that a component of your Turbo E-Bike system firmware is outdated, we notify you that an update is available. If you need retailer assistance, we will direct you to your local authorized Specialized Retailer to perform the update.
  • Event Detected: This indicates a potential problem with your Turbo E-bike’s system. For more information on the error, tap on Event Detected to open the Event Log screen. The Event Log will list each instance that an error occurred and guide you to find a solution. You can often clear an error by restarting the bike–power it off and then back on again.

Each event highlights the component, severity, date, and error code.

    • For component, we detect errors on: Battery, Display, or Motor.

    • For severity, the severity levels are: Notices, Warnings and Permanent Failures.

      • A Notice will offer useful advice/information about the event detected.

      • A Warning means the bike can be ridden as normal but performance may be affected. Click on the warning to see details.

      • A Permanent Failure might require assistance from an authorized retailer, as this can indicate that a component may need replacing.

    • The date on which the error occurred.

    • The error code can help an authorized Specialized retailer diagnose and solve the problem causing the error.

Battery

Specialized guarantees that the battery holds at least 75% capacity after 300 charge cycles or two years, whichever comes first. It is not uncommon for battery health to drop a few percent within 20 cycles, but to hold that for a year or more. See your Turbo manual for more battery details.

What is a charge cycle? The Battery Management System counts the number of full charge cycles. One charge cycle is added when, for example, 500 Wh have been recharged into a 500 Wh battery. Battery aging over an estimated lifetime is taken into account for counting the cycles.

Notes & Tips:

  • Familiarize yourself with the battery chapter in the manual and the symbols on the battery itself

  • Be aware that batteries age over time and through usage, resulting in reduced range

  • Always power off the bike before charging or connecting / disconnecting the battery

  • Batteries have undercharge and overcharge protection, so that they can be charged/discharged as needed

  • Avoid exposing your batteries to extreme temperatures. Do not let them/the bike sit in direct sunlight for long periods of time or inside a car that heats up. In the cold season, keep your Turbo batteries at room temperature before riding in cold conditions – if the battery is not removable, keep your bike inside until you ride

  • When not using batteries for a long period, leave them at a charge level of about 60%. Store them/the bike in a dry place at moderate temperatures. Recharge to 60% every three months

Battery storage recommendations:

For storage up to 1 month, we recommend avoiding temperatures below -20 C (-4 F) or above 60 C (140 F)
For storage up to 3 months, we recommend avoiding temperatures below -20 C (-4 F) or above 45 C (113 F)
For long-term storage, we recommend avoiding temperatures below -20 C (-4 F) or above 20 C (68 F)

Advanced Diagnostics

This option enables remote diagnostics with your Retailer and applies to all bikes equipped with a MasterMind display, TCU or TCD-w user interface. It allows you to send a full report of your bike, including settings and fault logs, to the local authorized Specialized Retailer network. You need a working internet connection and the upload will take approximately 30 seconds. During this time, you must keep the bike powered on and keep your phone nearby the bike. Once the upload is complete, contact your local authorized Specialized Retailer to share the bike serial number (WSBCxxxxxxxxxx, found under Bike Status > More Info in the app or underneath the bottom bracket of your bike). With the serial number, the retailer will be able to look up your bike's information for suggested service actions.
