Frame, Fork & Rear Suspension
The Stumpjumper is available with an 11m carbon frame or an alloy frame.
Sizing is done using the "S" system, with S1-S6 offered.

Cable Routing
Full length rear brake and derailleur cable housings are routed into molded ports on the non-driveside of the headtube. Housings are routed through the downtube before exiting through molded ports in front of the bottom bracket. Housings enter and exit the chainstay through molded ports. ICR guides are not required for cable routing. Foam churros may be used in the downtube (S149900018).
Dropper seatpost cables enter the frame through a molded port on the driveside of the headtube. The cable housing is routed through the downtube before going up the seattube.
If a wireless dropper seatpost is used, an angled rubber ICR plug can be used to fill the headtube port (S216500003).
Plastic ICR ports (S206500013) on the headtube guide the rear brake and derailleur housings through the non-driveside and into the top tube. The dropper seatpost housing is routed through the driveside and down the downtube.
To control cable rattling in the toptube, an 8mm Churro is used for the derailleur cable housing (S149900026) and an 11mm Churro is used for the rear brake line (S149900018).
Rear brake and derailleur housings are routed down the sidearm and held in place by a new cover (S206500014). The cables exit the front triangle through a new cable port above the bottom bracket (S206500012). Cable housings are routed through the chainstay and do not require any grommets or ICR ports.
For Shimano brake-equipped models there is a clamp is to hold the brake line to the non-driveside seatstay (S206500009).
Geometry
There are slight differences in the geometry of the carbon and alloy frames. The geometry tables show the bike as shipped with the headset in the zero offset position, the flip chip in the low position, and a 29" rear wheel. See the Geometry Finder tool for more information.

Geometry Adjustments
Both Stumpjumper frames have Flip Chips that can adjust the geometry. The Flip Chips are set in the low position in assembled bikes. Switching to the high position raises the bottom bracket by approximately 7mm and steepens the head tube angle by approximately 0.5 degrees.
Adjustment point | Chainstay length | Bottom bracket height | Head tube angle |
---|---|---|---|
Horst adjustable pivot (low) | + 0 mm | + 0 mm | + 0° |
Horst adjustable pivot (high) | - 4 mm | + 7 mm | + 0.5° |
The Stumpjumper Carbon geometry is adjustable through the Flip Chip (A in the image below) located in the suspension link extension.
The Stumpjumper Alloy geometry is adjustable through the Horst Pivot Flip Chip.
27.5 Rear Wheel Capability
Both frame versions have an aftermarket shock link to allow the 29" rear wheel to be replaced with a 27.5" rear wheel. If you wish to use a 27.5" rear wheel, you will need to replace the rear shock link.
All Carbon Stumpjumper models share a shock link (S204300004).
Alloy Stumpjumper models share a shock link with the Stumpjumper EVO (S204300006).

See the table below for the different shock extensions available:
Bike Model | 29” Shocklink | 27.5” Shocklink |
---|---|---|
Stumpjumper (Carbon frame) | S204300004 | 98922-8900 |
Stumpjumper (Alloy frame) | S204300006 | S204300005 |
SJ EVO (Carbon & Alloy) | S204300006 | S204300005 |
Headset
The headset uses a 1 1/8" upper bearing and a 1 1/2" lower bearing, which is compatible with many other models (S182500005).
Protectors
Carbon frame
Mylar downtube protectors are size specific and offered in a gloss finish for replacement: S209900065 - S209900070.
A molded downtube protector is positioned below the mylar protector (S209900064).The plastic molded protector is attached with double-sided tape.
The driveside chainstay protector is a clip-on style similar to the last generation (S206900005). One small screw holds the CSP in place.
Alloy frame
Alloy models do not come with a downtube mylar decal or a molded protector.
A foam piece protects the front of the chainstay from stone chips and mud (S206900007). The driveside chainstay protector is a clip-on style similar to the last generation (S206900006).
SWAT
Carbon frame
All carbon models are equipped with a downtube SWAT area. The SWAT door 2.0 is used to provide more storage area than the last model. Replacement doors and latches are available in a kit (S204200033).
Note that carbon models do not have a SWAT bulkhead, so SWAT bags and wraps should be used to contain objects and prevent them from entering the bottom bracket area.
Alloy frame
Alloy Stumpjumper models are not equipped with downtube SWAT storage.
Suspension
Suspension travel for all models and sizes is 140mm front and 130mm rear. The frame can accommodate a maximum fork travel of 150mm.
Rear Shock
S1: 190x42.5mm
S2-S6: 190x45mm
Eyelet hardware:
Alloy: 8mm ID x 20mm W
Carbon: 6mm ID x 19mm W
Please note: Suspension on a bicycle is a complete system. Specialized frames are designed in conjunction with the shocks and supporting parts that come factory installed. While many aftermarket shocks (air or coil) may physically fit on the bike, they may not be compatible with the frame. Always check with the shock manufacturer to confirm compatibility with your specific frame before purchasing and installing a different shock than what was originally supplied with the bike or frame.
Axle Standards
Front axle for all models is 15x110.
All Stumpjumper models are equipped with 148mm Boost rear hub spacing and require a 148mm Boost-compatible wheel.
