Max Tire Size

Flip Chip Adjustment

The Flip Chip comes factory installed in the low setting. Adjusting this to the high setting will raise the bottom bracket shell of the bike 6mm and steepen head tube angle by ½ a degree.

Changing Wheel Sizes

29 and 27.5 model Stumpjumper models have different frame geometries specific to wheel size and we do not recommend changing from the original wheel size.

Chainrings, Chain Guides, and Bash Guards

A 36t chainring is the maximum compatible size for Stumpjumper models.

The ISCG05 mounts on Stumpjumper modes are for two bolt mounting style chain guides. Damage to a frame resulting from bash guard installation will void warranty.

Brake Mount

Both the alloy and carbon frames have a direct mount 180mm rear brake mount. No Specialized parts are required for setup.

Maximum rear rotor diameter is 200mm.

Derailleur Hanger

All models (alloy and carbon) use the same alloy hanger (S172600001).

Forks

All forks use a tapered alloy steerer and 110mm hub spacing. 29 forks are 51mm offset, 27.5 are 44mm or 46mm depending on manufacturer.

SJ FSR models are equipped with 150mm travel forks for both wheel sizes.

SJ FSR ST models are equipped with 130mm travel forks for both wheel sizes.

Headset

All bikes use a tapered flush mount headset with 1 1/8” upper bearing and 1 ½” lower headset bearing. These use Campy type bearings and a split crown race. 

Rear Shocks

All frame configurations are equipped with metric shocks. These use standard 6x20mm mounting hardware on the front of the frame and an open eyelet toward the rear of the frame. The open eyelet accepts the geometry adjust Flip Chip (see above).

Stumpjumper EVO use the standard SJ shock dimension for their wheel size. 

Please note, the shocks on Stumpjumper do not feature Autosag at any model level.  In place of Autosag, a sag gauge is provided in the small parts box.  Adjust shock pressure until the travel indicator O-ring fits within the groove when the gauge is placed against the wiper seal.

Changing to/from Short Travel

Stumpjumpers may be changed from standard to Short Travel by changing the rear shock and shock extension.

Seatposts

All Stumpjumpers feature a 34.9mm seat post and 38.6mm clamp (S184700004).  The seat tube heights of the frames have been shortened to accommodate dropper posts with longer drop. Sizes M-XL will be spec’d with 150-160mm travel posts, size SM will be spec’d with a 125-130mm travel post and, size XS will be spec’d with a 100mm travel post. All frames have a 100mm minimum insertion depth.
