Electronic shifting and disc brakes only

The Tarmac SL8 is compatible only with electronic shifting and disc brakes. Brake housing and Di2 wiring is routed internally–please see the Tarmac SL8 User Manual for cable routing instructions and schematics. 

Forks

Using Rider First Engineering, there are two fork variations used on the Tarmac SL8.  These forks vary in geometry and stiffness to ensure ride quality and performance is maintained for all frame sizes:

Headset

Upper & lower bearings: 40.5 mm ID x 49.5 mm OD x 6.5 mm

Brake housing and Di2 wiring runs through the headset. Please see the Tarmac SL8 User Manual for cable routing instructions and schematics. 

Seatposts

The seatpost for the Tarmac SL8 is a custom aero-shaped post. A round seatpost is not compatible. There are 2 setbacks available: 0 mm and 15 mm; the bike/frame is sold with the 15 mm offset. There are also 2 lengths: 300 mm and 380 mm. The new SL8 seatpost uses the Alpinist upper and lower seat clamp hardware. 

Drivetrain

Chainring compatibility for 1x is 46–52t

Chainring compatibility for 2x is 34–42t for the small ring and 48–55t for the big ring

Similar to the SL7, there is a backing plate for the front derailleur mount or a cover for a 1x setup. Both are included with a frameset.

The bottom bracket is threaded with a width of 68 mm.

The rear derailleur hanger is S206000001.

Brake rotor minimum/maximum

Front: 160 mm only

Rear: 140 mm / 160 mm

Wheels and Tires

Tire Clearance and Tubeless Compatibility

Tarmac SL8 is compatible with a minimum tire width of 24 mm and a maximum of 32 mm. As tires and rim width vary in size, ensure that you have adequate clearance around the frame, fork and tires before riding.

All models are tubeless compatible with tubeless rim tape installed and valves in the small parts box.
