By Car

  • Only use car racks suitable for e-bikes and follow the rack manufacturer's manual
  • For full power Turbo bikes with removable batteries:
    • Remove battery from frame and transport it inside car
    • Cover battery plug with a plastic bag
  • Do not drive at high speeds, especially when wet
  • Do not place bike parts near the exhaust, especially rims/wheels - the heat from the exhaust can damage parts

By Airplane

  • Batteries with a capacity greater than 100Wh cannot be transported by air
  • For full power Turbo bikes with removable batteries:
    • Remove the battery from the frame (cover battery plug with a plastic bag)
    • Package the bike for travel
    • Transport the battery by ground freight, ensuring that the battery is packaged and shipped following local regulations
      or
    • Inquire about a loaner battery from a retailer at your destination

How to Remove the Battery

  1. Power off the bicycle on the MasterMind TCD

  2. Use the supplied key* to unlock the battery latch
  3. While supporting the battery with one hand, rotate the latch clockwise (A in image below) to release the battery. It will be attached to the hook inside the frame, but will swing out (B) when the latch is released.

  4. Rotate the battery on the hook to about a 20 degree angle with the frame downtube, as shown in B in the image above.
  5. To unhook the battery, lift it upwards and toward the back of the bicycle. Then carefully remove it from the frame. Be careful, as the battery weighs nearly 4 kg (almost 9 pounds) for the 5.0 and 4.0 models.

If you lose your battery key, you can order a new one using the key code that came with your bicycle. If you lose the key and the key code, you will need to replace the entire lock mechanism.

How to Reinstall the Battery

  1. Lift the battery into the frame and re-hook it onto the hook inside, then rotate the battery on the hook back into the frame.

  2. Press the battery slowly into the frame (A) until you hear a click. Rotate the latch lever counter-clockwise (B) to secure it.

  3. Lock the battery latch and remove the key from the frame (C). Do not ride the bicycle with the key inserted into the lock mechanism.

  4. Turn on the MasterMind TCD to check the battery connection.

Warning: Be sure your battery is securely installed and locked into place before riding your bicycle.
