Alpinist Setup
Alpinist CL and CLX wheels are not compatible with tubeless road tires. By making them tube-type specific we were able to create lighter and better complete wheels systems for performance road riders. To render these wheels tubeless would have required extra materials, and that extra mass would have outweighed the benefits of tubeless tires.
What is the difference between the Alpinist CL and CLX?
Both wheelsets use the same rim.
The Alpinist CL uses DT Swiss 350 hubs and has 24 DT Swiss Aerolite straight pull spokes, both front and rear. The wheelset has a weight of 1365 grams (front: 601 grams, rear: 764 grams) and a system weight limit of 275 pounds / 125 kg.
The Alpinist CLX sheds 117 grams by incorporating the new Roval AeroFlange hub and reducing the front wheel spoke count to 21. The wheelset has a weight of 1248 grams (front: 562 grams, rear: 686 grams) and a system weight limit of 275 pounds / 125 kg.
Brake Rotors
Alpinist wheels are designed to be used with centerlock type brake rotors.
Rim Width & Approved Tire Sizes
Alpinist rims have an internal width of 21mm and may be used with tires 700x24-47c.

Lacing & Tension
Drive-side rear spokes and rotor-side front spokes should be at 1100-1200N of tension when the wheel is complete.
